The current government shutdown is affecting LIHEAP grants in Pennsylvania, with the state's Department of Human Services (DHS) announcing a delay in cash grant payments due to the federal funding lapse. While applications are still being accepted and processed, the issuance of approval letters and payments has been temporarily stopped until federal funding is secured.
DHS has placed a hold on all LIHEAP cash payments. This means even if your application is approved, you will not receive the grant money until the federal budget is passed.
I am listing this it to raise funds to purchase bags of wood pellet heating fuel for a low income family in need. Fall and the cold months will be back before we know it and with the new executive order cutting federal government funding for low income families on the LIHEAP program, this year it is an even more critical need. Fundraising goal is $1,000.00 hopefully to be raised on or before November 30, 2025. This will help this family heat their home this winter.
